WHO:

Melissa McMillin and Jeremy Gebhardt, this year's couple chosen for TODAY's Modern Love Wedding

WHAT:

This year's lucky couple will say 'I do' with platinum wedding bands on TODAY's annual 'Modern Love' Wedding.  Over 150,000 TODAY viewers voted via TODAYshow.com, Facebook and text message to select the winning Neil Lane platinum bands from four carefully chosen sets of wedding bands. The alternate designers included Brilliant Earth, Diamonds for a Cure, and Asprey.

Lane's platinum engagement rings and wedding bands are worn by celebrities including Nicole Richie, Jennifer Hudson, and Emily Blunt.

Melissa's platinum band is set on three sides with 116 brilliant-cut diamonds, while Jeremy's platinum band is a simple, classic look.

"Platinum wedding bands are the most suitable for Melissa and Jeremy since platinum is the most durable of any precious metal," stated Heather Zachary Rogoff, Manager of Public Relations for Platinum Guild International USA. "Given Jeremy's active lifestyle in the U.S. Air Force, America chose the best and highest quality rings for this couple. And because of platinum's durability and natural white color, Melissa and Jeremy can rest assured their rings will never fade or tarnish and will look as beautiful as they do now, on their 50th anniversary."

As one of the only lasting elements of the wedding, the wedding bands were the first to be voted upon by America.

"Start picking out wedding bands straightaway," stated Avril Graham, Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor at Harper's Bazaar, and the woman who presented the ring options to THE TODAY SHOW'S viewers on Wednesday, August 25.  "They're something you're going to be wearing forever, so you have to get it right."

It appears America did "get it right" by choosing Neil Lane's platinum bands because when asked about her new wedding band, McMillin stated, "It's beautiful. It's the one that I was hoping for."

WHEN:

McMillin and Gebhardt will be married September 30, 2010

WHERE:

Rockefeller Plaza, New York City

3ality Digital, LLC (www.3alitydigital.com), a leading stereoscopic 3D (S3D) technology and production company, today announced that it will collaborate with Verizon FiOS TV to deliver the first televised NFL game in S3D, which will be available to FiOS TV customers in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The shoot will be among the first to feature 3ality Digital's new and highly versatile TS-5 rig.

Verizon FiOS1 Executive Producer, Orlando Martinez, along with Nicky Nichols Productions and Stephen Warner of Third Wave Productions selected NEP Broadcasting LLC and 3ality Digital as the premier vendors to shoot the Sept. 2 preseason match-up between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots, which will be telecast from the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

"We're looking forward to working with Verizon to bring the action of the world's premier sports league home to consumers in crystal clear S3D," said 3ality Digital Director of Production Ted Kenney. "This league-first will be an opportunity for consumers to experience the transformative nature of S3D in the comfort of their own homes."

3ality Digital enabled the first-ever live S3D broadcast of an NFL game in 2008; that production of a Thursday Night Football game between the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers was made available to select audiences at three U.S. theatres as a proof of concept.

Since the Thursday Night Football broadcast, 3ality Digital has been at the forefront of other groundbreaking S3D sports productions, such as Fox's presentation of the 2009 BCS Championship game between the University of Florida Gators and the University of Oklahoma Sooners, and the New York Rangers-New York Islanders NHL game played on March 24, 2010, as well as the first S3D broadcast of a NASCAR race, the Coke Zero 400, presented on DirecTV's n3D channel on July 3rd, 2010.

For the upcoming Giants-Patriots game, 3ality Digital will work with NEP Broadcasting, the leading international provider of outsourced broadcasting services, to help ensure the highest quality production. NEP Supershooters, a division of NEP Broadcasting, will be providing state-of-the-art mobile broadcast facilities for the shoot.

To capture all the action, 3ality Digital will be using a total of six rigs, including three TS-2 beam-splitter rigs, one TS-4 side-by-side rig and two of the company's new TS-5 rigs. The TS-5 is the first fully-automated, remotely-aligned, hand-held lightweight beam-splitter on the market. Designed for wireless camera operations in tight spaces, it can be mounted on a Steadicam for maximum flexibility.

"S3D is uniquely able to bring the size and speed of NFL players to life on-screen," Kenney said. "While football is exciting in 2D, it is completely immersive in S3D, giving viewers a whole new perspective on an experience they already love."

FiOS TV customers in the region with S3D enabled televisions, 3D glasses and high-definition set-top boxes will be able to watch the preseason broadcast on FiOS1 Channel 834.

About 3ality Digital

3ality Digital develops enabling technologies to power live-action stereoscopic 3D (S3D) entertainment from image capture through presentation, independent of viewing environment.  3ality Digital's camera platforms, stereo image processing systems and S3D image scaling technologies are quickly earning a reputation as the "gold standard" for the emerging medium and are rapidly being adapted by broadcasters, production companies, studios and consumer electronics manufacturers.  3ality Digital's systems are optimized to handle the demands of live S3D broadcast, offering such must-haves as fast set-up, perfectly aligned zooms, accurate imagery right from the camera and automation that reduces the number of required production personnel.

3ality Digital technology has powered a number of live-action firsts including U2 3D, the first movie shot completely in live-action S3D; the first live S3D broadcast of an NFL game (Raiders vs. Chargers, December 4th, 2008); the first live S3D sports broadcasts available to consumers, including the 2009 BCS Championship Game, BSkyB's landmark Manchester United vs. Arsenal soccer broadcast  (January 31st 2010)  and the first network hockey telecast ever produced in S3D (New York Rangers vs. Islanders, March 24th 2010 on MSG); the first S3D commercial broadcast on television (Sobe "Lizard Lake"); and the first episode of a scripted television series shot in live-action S3D (Chuck vs. The Third Dimension, aired on NBC on February 2nd, 2009).

The Detroit Symphony musicians and the Detroit Federation of Musicians will lead a miles-long and thousands-strong Labor Day parade down Woodward Avenue.

The invitation to lead the parade came from Detroit AFL-CIO President Saundra L. Williams, who said: "We want to demonstrate that the DSO musicians have our total support in their fight to save the Detroit Symphony Orchestra - an orchestra internationally regarded as one of America's best. The orchestra is one of Metro Detroit's cultural gems. It is a local symbol of excellence for a city in dire need of such symbols.

"Their fight is also on behalf of the nation's other symphony orchestras, which see their future likewise at stake should the DSO management model - demanding harsh cuts in salary, benefits, and working conditions, then refusing to negotiate - spread nationwide," she said.

DSO Principal Horn Karl Pituch, speaking for the musicians, said: "We wouldn't be surprised if part of the intent of that model would be to encourage a strike that would force a number of the musicians to retire or move on to other major orchestras, then replace them with less experienced players at lower salaries. That, of course, would be disastrous to an orchestra that has built up over decades its quality as an ensemble and its reputation for excellence. It would be definitely cynical to say that audiences won't be able to tell the difference."

Supporting the marchers will be political figures, national and international labor dignitaries, and musicians from across the United States and Canada. Expected to attend are: American Federation of Musicians President Ray Hair; Detroit Federation of Musicians, Local #5 President Gordon Stump; International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) Chair Bruce Ridge; ICSOM President Brian Rood; ICSOM Secretary Laura Ross; Regional Orchestra Players Association President Carla Lehmeier-Tatum.

Along with the thousands of marchers will be still more "marchers" who are unable to join but have signed on to participate in a virtual march to Orchestra Hall. Their letters will be printed and hand-delivered to the board of directors of the symphony.

Management's demands cut the musicians' base pay by 33 percent the first year of the three-year contract and call for significant concessions in pension, benefits and working conditions.

Because of the economic crisis and management's financial problems, the musicians placed on the table a proposal agreeing to $9 million in cuts in salary and benefits, including a 22 percent cut that same first year - the deepest cut taken by any of the other top ten orchestras. That would be on top of the $3.4 million in concessions the musicians had made in the previous two contracts.

The musicians' proposal was rejected.

"Implementing management's demands would drop the DSO from tenth to 19th in the rankings of American symphony orchestras," Pituch said. "This would make it difficult to attract internationally renowned guest conductors and artists to perform with the DSO and to attract top musicians to join the orchestra. The DSO would no longer remain the world-class orchestra its audiences have enjoyed and deserve. And that would be sad."

Arguably the world's most famous car, the actual 1964 Aston Martin DB5 driven by James BondSean Connery – in both Goldfinger and Thunderball will be on display for four days this month in New York City as it is readied to be the lead attraction for RM Auctions' annual Automobiles of London event October 27th at the Battersea Evolution.

Presented by RM, in association with Sotheby's, this DB5 is expected to bring more than $5 million during the auction, which would be the most ever paid for a "movie" vehicle. From September 14 to 17 the DB5 will grace the lobby of Sotheby's building here at 1334 York Avenue.

Well-known around the world by its original UK registration number, FMP 7B, this Aston Martin is one of two, and the sole remaining, of the original '007' DB5s featured on screen in the two Bond films. (The other was sold twice at auction before being stolen in 1997 from a Florida airport. It was never recovered.)

The DB5 was originally loaned to EON Productions for the movies' filming and returned to the Aston Martin Lagonda factory after its subsequent promotional tour. Jerry Lee, a radio broadcaster based in Philadelphia, convinced the factory to sell FMP 7B to him in 1969 for $12,000, thereby becoming its first – and only – owner. The car, with very limited public appearances, has remained in his possession for more than 40 years.

With its 'rather interesting modifications' originally conceived by Oscar-award-winning special effects expert, John Stears, this authentic Bond movie car is factory-fitted with the full complement of operational 'Q-Branch' gadgets, including machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen, all controlled from factory-installed toggles and switches hidden in the center arm-rest.

"Like 'Q', we never joke about our work, which is why RM is consistently entrusted with the sale of the world's most significant collector cars like the REAL 007 Aston Martin DB5 movie car," said Don Rose, Car Specialist, RM Auctions. "RM is known for world-record-setting results and we expect nothing less for 007's iconic DB5."

Lee plans to use the proceeds from the sale of FMP 7B to further the charitable work of The Jerry Lee Foundation, a multi-national initiative dedicated to solving social problems associated with poverty, with an emphasis on crime prevention.

The Foundation supports programs at the University of Pennsylvania and Cambridge University (UK), as well as in Washington, D.C., Australia and Norway. It is also responsible for the establishment of the Stockholm Prize in Criminology, for which Lee received a Swedish knighthood in 2008. (http://jerryleefoundation.com/)

"The James Bond car has brought me much enjoyment for some 40 years," said Lee. "Even as I sell it and use the proceeds to fund the Jerry Lee Foundation, the car will continue to give me great pleasure as it furthers the mission of the Foundation to do good around the world."

FMP 7B is presented in highly original condition following a recent careful re-commissioning program by RM Auto Restoration, returning it to running condition after the many years of static display in Lee's home.
